April's themes

This month is Holocaust Remembrance Month, so we will be reading non-fiction, historical fiction, and biographies that focus on this time period. We will also be researching the children of the Holocaust and will present oral histories to the class.

April is also Poetry month. During Writers' Workshop we will be reading and writing poetry. Feel free to bring in some of your favorite poems to read. We will also take a look at how poems are set to music. We will listen to some songs that started as poems. You'll be surprised at some of the music we will hear!
